Ethan Cavanagh was diagnosed as a stand-up comedian at the ripe old age of 15 and has been learning to live with the symptoms ever since. Country-bumpkin-turned-big-smoke, Ethan originally hails from rural Western Victoria, but is now one of Melbourne’s fastest-rising and extravagantly over-dressed comedians, with a few awards to boot. Having toured multiple sell-out shows across Australia and internationally, Ethan is fast becoming known for his trademark polished style and fast-paced delivery that threads razor-sharp observations through familiar storytelling. His global touring highlights include a sold-out debut season at The Edinburgh Fringe, a four-week residency in Toronto and an extended sold-out run in New York’s off-Broadway Soho Playhouse. He’s played some of the world’s most illustrious comedy clubs, including Cape Town Comedy Club, Good Times Christchurch, and Melbourne’s Comedy Republic, as well as featuring in flagship Melbourne International Comedy Festival shows such as The Great Debate, MICF Roadshow, The Festival Club, and Comedy at The Espy. You can hear Ethan mucking around on the radio every week as part of his ABC Vic Statewide Drive segment The Internet Report. He’s also appeared on screen in ABC’s Stand & Deliver and Channel 31’s The Leak. In addition to his more traditional stand-up, Ethan has injected his comedy into a growing menu of formats, from touring his comedy wine tasting show, In Pour Taste, to being a clicker-wielding co-host of the Melbourne comedy cult hit The Late Nite PowerPoint Comedy Showcase. In a short time, Ethan has made his presence in showbiz known and quickly become one of Melbourne’s most exciting new talents. Catch him on a stage near you soon.
